"OUR DEBT TO THE HEROIC MEN AND VALIANT WOMEN IN THE SERVICE OF OUR COUNTRY CAN NEVER BE REPAID. THEY HAVE EARNED OUR UNDYING GRATITUDE. AMERICA WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR SACRIFICES. " H.S. TRUMAN
If the original Van Wyke Lake Road ran along the base of the hills to the east, and behind the current Maya Cafe, then it certainly seems reasonable that the soldiers cemetery extends underneath and south of the current Van Wyke Lake Road where it now intersects with Route 9. Does anyone know the history of the Maya Cafe building or whether it has a basement?
The military cemetery at the Fishkill Supply Depot should be protected from development, and made into a park for all Americans to honor and cherish...
Speaking of maps, I was looking at a map of the Fishkill Supply Depot from the late 1700s which clearly shows two large structures south of the Van Wyke house with something written next to the east structure. Both structures if drawn to scale would be right in the middle of the proposed CC project, and were on the property that was part of the original FSD military complex. Does anyone have any idea what these structures might be?
Its hard to tell, since Rt 9 was much less straight when it was the FSD, but I would guess that the soldiers cemetery was south of those structures approximately where the road straightens out as it parallels the base of…
Its hard to believe that the Fishkill Supply Depot Historic Site has been established since 1971 and it was never placed on google maps. At least the State put up historical markers to identify its location. Hopefully one day it will be established as a military park!

I have submitted a positive review, and I would encourage others to also do so to draw attention to this preservation effort. Best of luck!
